Investigation of Dynamic Characteristics of Vibrating Components and Structure Through Vibration Measurement and Operational Modal Analysis

Smooth plant production is utmost expected by owners since any unplanned shutdown very much undesirable as it may incur loss of company’s profits and other repercussions. Critical operational assets such rotating machineries their components, e.g., motor, pump, compressor, turbines are crucial to be monitored in ensuring continuous operation the plant. Therefore, vibration being one elements predictive maintenance needed. This paper addressesthe monitoring findings for on high a make-up gas compressor oil & petrochemical Malaysia. The conventional measurement using analyzer was utilized identify severity machine vibrations through overall value obtained motor compressor. A specialized technique, namely, Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) further deployed verify presence resonance equipment obtaining its dynamic characteristics, i.e., natural frequency mode shape. showed clear indication occurrence similar (112 Hz) identified from both modal analysis.
